Capital City's 25 Years Of Service

On Wednesday night, November 7, 2007, more than fifty joined Capital City Sunrise in celebrating 25 years of service to the Concord area and beyond.
The principal speaker was Governor John Lynch who gave the audience a mini-state-of-the-state update. The Governor commended Rotary for the work it does and its devotion to serving the community. Tony Gilmore presented Governor Lynch with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award. The Governor had another commitment immediately after his speech and unfortunately had to leave before the guests were treated to an excellent buffet.
President Jack introduced the guests which included the president District Governor, the incoming District Governor and an international Rotarian from Tannum Sands, Queensland, Australia who was very entertaining and exchanged banners with the club.
The surprise of the evening was from Louis Manias, who for the attending Daniels family. presented a check for $5,000 for the Randy Daniels Scholarship Fund - proceeds from the Randy Daniels Memorial Golf Tournament now have reached $30,000.
Dick Johnson gave a brief remembrance of the Club founder Don Miner made all the more poignant by the attendance of Don's significant other, Jean Ardine.
Closing the meeting fell to our singing Governor, Chris Parkinson, who spoke and then sang about teamwork. A fitting end to great evening.
