Bill Newell, Past President 1996-97

 Bill Newell's remembrance was held on Thursday, Aug 23 at the Bennett Funeral Home

A number of present and former Rotarians paid their respects to Mary Newell (Bill's wife) and his family - 3 boys and 3 girls. Attending from Rotary were members and former members  Dick Johnson and Taffy, Dave Burns, Matt Dupee, Peter McGrath, Tom Timpone, Phil and Connie LaRosa, Liz and Tony Gilmore and officiating for the service was Padre VanPatten.

The ceremony was a celebration of Bill's life as told from the perspective of those who knew him from Rotary, from his family and from those he touched. All related stories that evoked a fond rememberence, laughter and the uniqueness that was Bill Newell. Padre did his usual best steering the assembled group to share their memories of Bill. From his kids we heard about his love affair of driving and things mechanical and a continuing intrest in all people, his and his kids love of books and his occasional intractibility. From others we heard of his Rotary exploits and continuing abiding interest in all kinds of people he met. All of us who knew Bill were better off for it. He will be missed.
